		<description>For my thesis project I decided to create four recipe books on Japanese cuisine. As a food lover I have always admired the beauty and enjoyed the taste of Japanese food, and after some time spent living in Japan I also came to know that many dishes are associated with particular celebrations or with special festivals during the year. Seasonality is very important in this country, where every season brings with it a whole world of "collective rituals", creating 4 unique universes of colours, shapes and flavours.

I wrote these books entirely, illustrating the recipes and the stories within them. But these works are not mere recipe books: I chose food as a medium to show the soul of this fantastic country, in which aesthetics, tradition and culture form an extraordinary bond. This is why I also added photomontages of food and places, in order to give the feeling of what a dish is, or to have a glance of the country, just like a train passenger does when looking outside the window.

I also inserted some Japanese traditional poems (haiku), so often related to seasons, and every book ends with a special section dedicated to other aspects of food and cuisine, like the tea ceremony, the knife ceremony, how to use chopsticks and how to arrange dishes on the table.

Because Japanese food is not only sushi.

		<description>These are posters I designed for some non-profit organizations' competitions, such as Good 50x70 and Positive Posters. Unfortunately none of my work pleased the jury enough to be the winner, but I enjoyed working on them not only under the creative process point of view, but also under the "human" aspect.
Thanks to research I could get more informed about some serious issues in our society and managed through graphics to express my view on them.

I welcome all creatives out there to do the same, it can only do some good.

		<description>I created a series of flavoured milk bottles with Japanese names. I imagined these bottles and cartons being sold in a cute and artisan shop in Tokyo, along with biscuits and teas.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/6bottles.jpg" width="600" height="345" width_o="600" height_o="345" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/6bottles_o.jpg" data-mid="8668245"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/amai.jpg" width="439" height="438" width_o="439" height_o="438" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/amai_o.jpg" data-mid="8668266"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Vanilla flavour
AMAI in Japanese means "sweet", thus the name of this milk. The pattern for the label is made out of vanilla flowers.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/amaib.jpg" width="378" height="869" width_o="378" height_o="869" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/amaib_o.jpg" data-mid="8668269"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/asa.jpg" width="440" height="440" width_o="440" height_o="440" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/asa_o.jpg" data-mid="8668273"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Coffee flavour
I decided to call this milk type ASA, which means "morning". Perfect to drink on a sleepy morning, it's scattered with coffee beans.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/asab.jpg" width="380" height="874" width_o="380" height_o="874" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/asab_o.jpg" data-mid="8668276"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/shizuku.jpg" width="440" height="441" width_o="440" height_o="441" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/shizuku_o.jpg" data-mid="8668289"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Strawberry flavour
SHIZUKU means "drop" in Japanese. It both represents the small drops of mist on a fresh fruit but also reminds of the shape of the strawberry seeds.
The pattern chose for the label comes from this drop shape.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/shizukub.jpg" width="380" height="874" width_o="380" height_o="874" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/shizukub_o.jpg" data-mid="8668293"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/midori.jpg" width="440" height="440" width_o="440" height_o="440" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/midori_o.jpg" data-mid="8668282"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Green Tea flavour
Japanese green tea is famous worldwide, but not everybody is aware of the combination of this tea with milk. Japanese summers offer green tea flavoured ice-creams, frappes and milkshakes.
MIDORI means "green", as the leaves of this tea represented on the label.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/midorib.jpg" width="380" height="874" width_o="380" height_o="874" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/19848/1761735/midorib_o.jpg" data-mid="8668285"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;</description>

		<description>I thought I should give some importance to the small things I create day by day, to the personal works that so much represent what I do.
Same as photographs, every piece reminds me of a specific moment in time.

I drew inspiration from old illustrations and the style of newspaper they had at the time.

		<description>Redesign concept for a magazine about nature, science and technology.
The logo MORE comes from the idea of acquiring knowledge about the world, thus in a circle representing our planet.

We were asked to design the concept of two normal issues, a typographic cover and a special edition one. Along with these, we were asked to design two samples of inner spreads and the content page.

		<description>I started reading Harry Potter because I did not like it.
What was that fuss all about, anyway?

But then well, you could guess what happened. I found myself buying one book after the other.
One thing though bothered me so much to push me (inspired, let's say) into this self-initiated project: Harry Potter's book covers design.

I couldn't help but to feel a little embarrassment to be seen with the book in my hands, with all these dragons and brooms flying...I wished these book covers could be less childish and more "contemporary" ,since the public range changed so much. ( Although there is a collection of paperback Harry Potter, with more mature yet sinister covers)
In making these graphics I tried to show the magical and mysterious feeling of the story, keeping in mind crucial figures and events.

These are what I wished my books could look like, published by an equally fictive publishing company.
